10TRENDSIn Holiday Hosting and Party PlanningPlan the Best Holiday Party Yet! As we approach the holiday season, it's time to start planning those unforgettable holiday parties. This year, there are some exciting new trends that promise to make your holiday party anything but ordinary. From colorful palettes and creative ballooning to themed menus and immersive experiences, 2023 is all about stepping up your game and hosting an event that truly stands out. Here are 10 hot trends in holiday party planning for 2023. #1| Holiday Brights for Your Color Theme This year, modern and colorful is the go-to trend. Say goodbye to traditional red and green and hello to a vibrant mix of bright, cheerful colors that will make your holiday party pop. From hot pinks and metallics, to teal blues, silvers and more. #2 | Creative Ballooning Balloons aren't just for kids' parties anymore. Creative ballooning, such as balloon arches, sculptures, or centerpieces, can add a whimsical touch to your holiday party. From word shapes such as a JOY or 2024, to color themes that will leave your guests in awe, ballooning can add so much to your decor, photo ops and more. 10 TRENDS8 • WESTERN SUBURBS • NOVEMBER 2023 • Glancer Magazine

#3 | Themed Menus One of the most exciting trends in holiday party catering for 2023 is the rise of themed menus that tell a story. No more settling for ordi-nary - opt for menus that take guests on a culinary journey. One idea might be “A Taste of the North Pole” where you could serve Snow-flake Shrimp Cocktail, Polar Peppermint Pie and more novelty dishes. #4 | Ugly Sweater Contest Make your holiday party fun and interactive with an ugly sweater contest. This is a great way to get everyone involved and create some laughs. You could also alter the theme to a "Festive Pajama Party." This idea keeps the fun and casual spirit of the Ugly Sweater Contest but adds a cozy twist. #5 | A Curated Celebration Curated Celebrations are all about personalization and attention to detail. An example of this trend could be a "Winter Wonderland" themed office holiday party. Every aspect of the event, from the decor to the food, is meticulously planned and coordinated. The venue is transformed into a snowy landscape with white drapes, fairy lights, and frosted centerpieces. #6 | Live Music Nothing sets the mood like live music. Whether it's a local band or a solo artist, live music can add a touch of class and entertainment to your holiday party. A live jazz band could play classics from greats like Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday, setting a sophisticated and fes-tive atmosphere, while a tribute band can liven up the modd playing favorites that all of your guests love. For a traditional holiday feel, consider hiring carol singers or a Christmas brass ensemble. #7 | Going Green Sustainability is a hot topic, and it's making its way into holiday parties too. Think eco-friendly decorations, sustainable catering op-tions, and waste reduction strategies. Examples of this include using biodegradable confetti, fresh flowers, homemade party crackers and food decorations. #8 | Mocktails With the rise in sober celebrations, mocktails are becoming a pop-ular choice for holiday parties. These non-alcoholic beverages can be just as creative and delicious as their alcoholic counterparts. Pop-ular recipes include Sparkling Berry and Pomegranate Mocktail and the Crean-Raspberry Martini made with syrups. #9 | An Immersive Experience Take your guests on an adventure with immersive experiences. This could be anything from a murder mystery game to a virtual reality experience. Some fun ideas include ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ or ‘Immersive Theatrical Fun’ where you collaborate with a theater group to create an immersive experience where guests become part of the story. How fun! #10 | Pop Culture Themes Embrace the world of pop culture with a themed holiday party. Whether it's a favorite movie, TV show, or a big event from the year, a pop culture theme can make your holiday party unique and mem-orable. On eidea is ‘A Christmas Story Party’. Celebrate with a trib-ute to this beloved holiday film. Serve Ovaltine, display a leg lamp, and encourage guests to dress like their favorite character. www.glancermagazine.com/10-trends 10 TRENDSGlancer Magazine • NOVEMBER 2023 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 9

GLEN ELLYN/AURORA–Jocelyn Reimann, a vintage enthusiast and owner of The Green Door, has been spreading the joy of a vintage Christ-mas in the Chicago area for over two decades. With her business nestled inside Warehouse 55 in both the Aurora and Chicago location, she brings the charm of yesteryears back to life through her meticulously curated col-lections. Reimann's love for the character, patina, and historical narratives of older items is evident in her work. Her own home, a harmonious blend of new and old, leans heavily towards the latter, mirroring her passion for vintage items. However, it's during the festive season that Reimann's passion truly comes alive. To her, a vintage Christmas is the pinnacle of joy and nostalgia. Her collection of Shiny Brites, old lights, bottle brush trees, Santa mugs, tinsel, and more are not just holiday decorations; they are vessels of joy and car-riers of happy memories. These vintage treasures, when arranged into displays and vignettes, can transform any space into a winter wonderland straight out of a storybook. ABOUT REAL HOUSEWIVES  OF NAPERVILLE You may have seen us around town, we are the fabulous four who believe you can never be overdressed for any occasion. We are four friends who met through the power of social media. We absolutely love exploring Naperville and beyond to discover the best restaurants, shops and businesses. We believe in supporting our communities and recommending all the places we truly love. Mila brings the west coast vibes, Ashley is all about quiet luxury, Katie lives life in color, and Natalie is the life of the party! If you see us out, be sure to stop and say “hi”. Instagram: realhousewivesofnaperville Email: rhonaperville@hotmail.com When it comes to sushi rolls, Ikkai is all about creativity. When you look at their menu you will notice they have created a flavor profile that's unlike anything you've tried before. Our absolute favorite is the “Yolo” Roll, which is a unique and unforgettable creation. It is shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, jalapeno, cucumber, topped with filet mignon, basil mayo, asparagus and gold flakes! The name "Yolo" suggests that it's something you should try at least once in your life for a mem-orable dining experience! While the “yolo” is our group favorite, we also have our own personal favorites. Mila is obsessed with the 109 roll which features crab, avo-cado, and cream cheese with baked salmon on top. Natalie gets the “hangry” roll, we attribute this to her being hangry often, but also that it’s a deep-fried roll filled w crab and cream cheese! Ashley raves about the Main St roll which has a crab tempura base with crab salad on top. And Katie holds with a classic, the spicy tuna roll! Basically, we haven’t met a roll we didn’t love! If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we love sushi, and Ikkai has always been our favorite sushi spot. It's a testament to the restaurant's quality and appeal. And if that isn’t enough to get you to try it, consider the fact you may spot some of the Real Housewives while dining there, which only adds to its allure. WHAT’S FOR DINNER? NAPERVILLE–Picture it, Sicily 1923, or is it 2023 and you are at Calogero’s Old World Italian Pizza in Naperville?! From the moment you step into Calogero’s and meet the owner, Salvatore, you will quickly understand the passion he has for the authentic food he creates. Salvatore's background and the inspiration behind Calogero's is truly heartwarming. Growing up in an Italian American home with his father hailing from Sicilia, he carries with him cherished memories of family gath-erings and delicious meals shared with loved ones. It's evident that he's taken those meaningful experiences and translated them into his restaurant, where he has recreated that sense of warmth, togetherness, and mouth-watering cuisine for his customers. Salvatore’s dedication to using the highest quality ingredients and artisan methods is evident in every dish I’ve tried and what sets them apart from other places. It's clear that the focus on quality and authenticity is a top pri-ority, making Calogero's a must-visit for those seeking exceptional and unique culinary experiences in Naperville. Every time I go to Calogero’s I must get pizza! My absolute favorites: The Crudo- Italian plum tomato, mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, arugula, shaved parmigiano and basil. The Marinara- a true Sicilian experience, a pizza with basil and thinly sliced garlic on top and no cheese! This pizza highlights the simple yet bold flavors of authentic Italian cuisine. And of course, you can’t go wrong with the classic Margherita! All their pizzas are made using the highest quality ingredients, imported and domestic. The pizza dough is made using their natural starter (sourdough) and 100% certified Italian grains. This not only adds a depth of flavor to their pizzas but also makes them suitable for those with gluten intolerances, which is a great option for a wider range of pizza lovers. Of course, no Italian meal can end without a dessert! My top favorites in-clude the homemade Tiramisu, the Rainbow cookies and the Panettone which is a naturally leavened bread that undergoes a 3-day process and makes a great gift during the holidays! Dining at Calogero's is a delightful journey into the heart of Italian American tradition, offering not just a delicious meal but an experience filled with nos-talgia and flavor. Bubblehouse Football season is here! As the colors change and temperatures change … one thing remains the same - America’s love of football. We celebrate inside our beloved sta-diums, outside at tailgates, glued to our couch or venture to a favorite brewery. If you’re look-ing for a new brewery, we recommend Bubble-house Brewing Company in Lisle. This soon-to-be-favorite brewery just celebrated its 2 year anniversary! After years of planning and saving, Bubblehouse opened its doors in the fall of 2021. This is a family-owned and family-friendly tap-room (bring the kids!). Its patio is dog-friendly, too. There is a curated collection of board games to bring out your competitive & nostalgic spirit - Clue, Yahtzee, Outburst and Crokinole … just to name a few. Hungry? They’ve got you covered. Boom Box Burgers continues to be a patron favorite. This family-owned, pop-up tent is frequently on-site to serve up its delicious, made-to-order smash burgers. And its Pizza Phone is up and running - just walk up, place your order and Brasi’s Pizzeria will deliver. #genius As you cheer alongside fellow fans, there’s an ample amount of craft beer to enjoy. Currently enjoying: That Escalated Quickly (banana, clove spice & green pear), Sploot (coriander & orange peel) and Smoky Poofs (chocolate, coffee & rye spice). Be sure to try Tails of Rescue, too! This collaboration supports the West Suburban Humane Society’s mission (10% of every pint sold will be donated to WSHS). Be sure to check out BB’s calendar for upcoming events, live music and food truck schedule. Here’s to craft beer, good conver-sation and community. Plainfield Turkey Drop PLAINFIELD– Twenty-four years ago, in 1999, the Ford Family of Plainfield brought two turkeys to the Morningstar Mission in Joliet for their Thanksgiving. The next year, friends and family offered to help the Mission as well, and the Ford Family put together the idea of a Turkey Drop to help donate for Thanksgiving dinners to those in need. Each year since its inception, the number of donated turkeys has grown steadily. Last year, over 600 turkeys were collected. The Fords hosted the drop for ten years until it got too big for one family to handle. Now the men and women of the Plainfield Moose Lodge, along with the Ford family, host the event every year. With so many turkeys being collected, donations can bene-fit more local groups including, the Plainfield Food Pantry, St. John’s Church, and the Plainfield School District 202 families through Bags of Hope for the dis-tribution of Thanksgiving baskets. “You may have heard the saying, ‘A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many,’ ” says Anthony Scala, Chairperson for the Turkey Drop and past Governor/President of the Plainfield Moose Lodge 2491. “This saying is at the core of the Moose organ-ization and what makes us unique in our Lodges and local communities.” The Moose organization is about caring for one another’s needs and celebrating life to-gether and with a membership of over a million members, their presence is felt in over 1500 com-munities across all 50 states and four Canadian prov-inces, plus Great Britain. “My favorite part is to see the faces of satisfaction from the families that are do-nating and the sense of gratitude of those receiving. It’s a time when families should be together around the table for the holidays,” says Scala. This year The Plainfield Tur-key Drop will be collecting frozen turkeys the Saturday before Thanksgiving, No-vember 18th from 10am-2pm at the Plainfield Moose Lodge at 16310 S. Lincoln Highway. Cash donations are also accepted, and the money collected will be used to purchase additional turkeys. Making a cash donation NOW instead of the day of the drop in November is appreciated so bank-ing can be done and turkeys can be reserved. Please make checks payable to the Plainfield Turkey Drop (not the Moose) and mail them to the Lodge address above. Any additional information can be found on their website. www.plainfieldturkeydrop.com Happy Thanksgiving, all! TRENDY TRAVELERTrendY Nestled in the Heart of the Florida Keys Picture this: palm-fringed shores, crystal-clear waters, and endless adventures at Bungalows Key Largo, the ultimate paradise for two best friends seeking an unforgettable escape. As we stepped onto this luxurious, all-inclusive resort, nestled in the heart of the Florida Keys, we embarked on an incredible journey of relaxation, adven-ture, and friendship. After landing at the nearby Miami International Airport, we took the short hour drive through the scenic Florida Keys and were immedi-ately welcomed with valet service and a refreshing tropical drink. The striking overwater bungalows immediately captured our hearts, offering a private and serene haven that blends seamlessly with the surroundings. Waking up to the sound of gentle waves and warm sunshine, we took in the solitude of our own little private backyard with morning coffee before indulging in a leisurely breakfast overlooking the ocean. The all-inclusive nature of this resort means that every meal is a culinary delight and a food lover's paradise. Each day, morning, noon, and night, we savored the flavors of fresh seafood, tender steaks, tropical cuisine, and authentic Mexican at the various re-sort's restaurants. Top shelf drinks and bartender specialities added to the splendor. Blissful Bungalows: An All-Inclusive Getaway in Florida KeysTraveler46 • WESTERN SUBURBS • NOVEMBER 2023 • Glancer Magazine

TRENDY TRAVELERAs most know, GlancerMagazine #MomsLittleBlackBook loves ad-venture so the plethora of water activities engaged our senses throughout our stay, such as snorkeling among the vibrant coral reefs, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and getting our daily dose of exercise on the water trike! Wow that’s harder than it looks!! We then hopped aboard The Tiki Cruise and circled among luxury homes and mangroves at just the right speed for appreciating music, ambience, and a refreshing frozen cocktail; but best of all, the Sun-set Cruise was by far the highlight of our stay aboard the catamaran that offered charcuterie and wine, and sailed along the serene waters, providing an up close and personal experience as the dol-phins played in our current. The evening was filled with shared laughter as we overlooked the depths of the ocean and the magic of the resort on the horizon. We ended the night with beachside ka-raoke and uninhibited dancing with the entire crowd swaying to-gether to Sweet Caroline! After days filled with adventure and exploration, guests can sur-render to the tranquility of the resort's spa. The signature treatments, including facials, body wraps, and relaxation in the Zen Garden, prompting most to also indulge in a relaxing beachside massage af-terwards. My personal decompression was taking advantage of the bicycles that are also available at every cabin to stroll along the palm tree covered trails and sandy beaches. Bungalows Key Largo is not just an all-inclusive resort; it's a desti-nation that fosters connection, adventure, and relaxation. PURPOSEFULLY DRIVEN Debbie’s community ties since 1995 gives her an enthusiastic edge when working with buyers and sellers. Her professional, down to earth approach with unwavering commitment to her clients, has enabled her to build up a vast network of referrals over the past 8 years. Attention to detail combined with an exceptional understanding of the mar-ketplace, genuine care for people, attentive listening skills, and dedication to fulfilling client’s goals is abundantly evident. “I LOVE people and the journey that takes us from A to Z. I believe we all have a story to tell, and that story begins at home,” Debbie shares. “For much of my adult life, I was known as a working stay-at-home PTA mom/wife, and was led to a new full time career as a 50 year-old single mom. It took perseverance, patience, and trust in the process to transition to Debbie Lendino, john greene Realtor, trusted advisor extraordinaire!” Debbie’s strong ability to negotiate and problem solve support her business that has been predominantly built on referrals, open homes, and networking. She is confident, yet humble; compassionate, yet persistent; knowledgeable, yet always learning. She relies on jgR’s tools to maintain a powerful post close process for her buyers and sellers and has an impressive social media presence that aids in marketing her listings. As Naperville and western suburban real estate continue to tilt toward a seller marker, home sales overall are heading toward stabilization. A slight cool is a good sign for Debbie’s buyers who are coming off the sidelines, even with risen interest rates. Creative financing and a decrease in com-petitive multiple offer scenarios will allow her buyers stronger purchasing power moving forward. But, we do need inventory and property values con-tinue to rise, just at a slower rate. NOW is a great time to market your home! “Utilization of john greene Realtor's technology is unmatched,” she says. “Always fresh, always something NEW, excellent!,” Debbie says. “I love being a part of an organization that supports each other - a cheerleader to new agents, mentoring small groups, collaborating with business partners, brainstorming with outside agents, networking, volunteering...these all align with my purpose!” As a top performing agent, it brings Debbie great joy to build on her referral base and provide an elite experience for her clients. CHARLES–In the heart of historic downtown St. Charles, 3rd Street Dance stands as a testament to the vision of owner and di-rector, Alice Williams. Williams grew up in St. Charles, and 27 years ago, embarked on a mission to create a non-competitive dance stu-dio that inspires students to believe in themselves, spread joy and build lifelong friendships. It’s a home where, as she says, “Kids can be kids, have fun, and find their best friend.” At 3rd Street Dance, students embrace the beauty of dance without worrying about external pressures. As the only local St. Charles studio affiliated with the national organization More Than Just Great Dancing®, they takes pride in providing a quality curriculum and a safe and nurturing environment for its young dancers to grow and flourish. Dance has the power to bring about positive change in a com-munity. 3rd Street Dance give back, organizing charity events and fundraisers, using passion for dance to raise awareness for local causes. These experiences teach young dancers the value of em-pathy, compassion, and the joy of helping others. The studio’s non-competitive approach to dance has allowed count-less children to discover the joy of movement and creativity without the fear of judgment. As Williams continues to champion the belief that “kids should be kids for as long as humanly possible,” the 3rd Street Dance legacy lives on by offering a variety of classes focus ing on fun, learning, and growth.
