Julie expertly balances her roles as a top-notch realtor in west suburban Chicago and a fantastic mother by meticulously planning her schedule to accommodate family commitments and client needs. Her passion for both her work and family shines through as she shares heartwarming stories of help-ing families find their dream homes, emphasizing the importance of happiness at work and home. Drawing inspiration from her family, particularly her mother and grandmother, Julie embodies leadership and warmth in both her personal and professional life. Through her fun and engaging ap-proach to house-hunting, Julie creates memorable experiences for families looking to settle down in the vibrant neighborhoods of west suburban Chicago, showcasing the unique charm and com-munity spirit of the area. Get to know more about Julie in her own words.... The Balancing Act How do you balance being a fantastic mom and a top-notch real-tor in the West Suburbs? Part of the balancing act is keeping my schedule well-planned. Our family has the morning bus stop, practices, games, and sleepovers. When I am home, I am present. My clients are well-served by me; they always know they will hear from me quickly. I have systems in place and delegate work tasks when needed to keep a healthy work-life balance. I love spending time with my clients and family; each receives my full attention when we are to-gether. Happiness at work and home is essential to me, and I have both. From Mom to Mom Can you share a heartwarming story of helping a family find their dream home in the West Suburban area? This winter, I was helping a family move from Texas. They knew very little about Naperville, and before giving them a video tour of a home they were interested in, I saw a neighbor shoveling across the street. I asked the neighbor if she would mind telling about the neighborhood for some potential buyers on video, and she agreed, even in the cold! The buyers purchased the beautiful Naperville home, and I dropped off a gift for the sweet neighbor I sprung an interview with. I Learned It from My Mom What's the best advice your mom gave you that influences how you approach motherhood and real estate? I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and both my mother and my grandmother were a significant influence on my life. My grand-mother taught me to be a matriarch and the leader of my family, and I am both a leader within my family and my career. Seamlessly blending motherhood and real estate is all about adaptability and dedication. Whether it's answering client calls while cheering on my daughter at a dance competition or sched-uling showings around family vacations, I make it work. My clients understand that family comes first, and they appreciate the gen-uine care and attention I give to both them and my loved ones. It's about finding balance and being fully present in every moment, whether it's negotiating a deal or attending Friday night football games. From Mom to Mom Can you share a heartwarming story of helping a family find their dream home in the West Suburban area? Recently, I had the honor of helping the Anderson family find their dream home in our community. They were looking for a place with enough space for their growing family and a backyard for their children to play. After weeks of searching, we found the perfect home that checked all their boxes. Seeing their faces light up as they walked through the front door was truly priceless—a moment that reminded me why I love what I do. I Learned It from My Mom What's the best advice your mom gave you that influences how you approach motherhood and real estate? IMy mom always emphasized the importance of empathy and in-tegrity in everything I do. She taught me to listen deeply, to under-stand others' needs, and to always act with honesty and compassion. This advice guides me in both motherhood and real estate, reminding me to prioritize relationships, to advocate for my clients with sincerity, and to create spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. Organizations like Benedictine University, Habitat for Humanity of Illinois, KidsMatter, United Way of Will County, and about 60 others, both large and small. Starting in 2006, PGM has forged community-based part-nerships with mission-driven organizations, and has be-come a community steward through volunteering, donations, and inkind work. Nicole Schuler: Transforming Homes and Lives with Organization NAPERVILLE–Nicole Schuler, the owner and lead organizer of her thriving home organization busi-ness, Nice and Neat at Home in Naperville, discov-ered her passion for decluttering and creating harmonious living spaces through a lifelong love for organization. Transitioning from a career as a speech pathologist to a professional organizer, Nic-ole found fulfillment in not just beautifying spaces but also in giving people back control over their lives. For busy moms seeking practical solutions, Nicole recommends in-novative storage ideas like designated donation bins, strategically placed "Put me away" bins on staircases, dedicated "Too Small" bins in children's closets, and keeping socks with shoes in the mudroom for easy access. These simple yet effective hacks streamline daily routines and reduce clutter, bringing a sense of order to hectic households. Balancing her clients' needs with maintaining her own home, Nicole practices what she preaches, implementing and sustaining organiz-ing solutions in her personal space. Encouraging clients to embrace grace during the process, Nicole emphasizes the importance of hav-ing systems in place and dedicating time to maintain a clutter-free home amid life's busyness. Identifying the often underestimated mudroom as a key area for organization, Nicole stresses the sig-nificance of decluttering for creating a peaceful en-vironment. By advocating a minimalist approach, defining spaces, and involving family members in the organizational process, she helps families achieve harmony and reduce stress through outer order. During consultations, Nicole tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each family, considering factors like daily routines, family dynamics, and stressors to create customized organizational solu-tions. Emphasizing that there is no one-size-fits-all strategy, Nicole ensures her work benefits the entire household, not just individual clients. To moms striving for an organized and clutter-free home amidst daily chaos, Nicole offers empowering advice: be intentional about what enters your space, curate belongings that serve a purpose, and let go of items that no longer contribute to your peace. By asserting con-trol over what comes into their homes, moms can cultivate environ-ments that support their well-being, reduce stress, and foster stronger family connections. Nicole Schuler's dedication to transforming spaces and lives through organization exemplifies the profound impact of decluttering on men-tal well-being, productivity, and familial relationships. Through her thoughtful guidance and practical tips, she continues to inspire and empower families to embrace the transformative power of an organ-ized home. www.niceandneatathome.com WOMEN INSPIREDGlancer Magazine • MAY 2024 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 23

by Glancer® / Photos OnlineVintage Chicago by Chicago Tribune FEATURING KEEPSAKE PHOTOS OF YESTERYEAR  A favorite book for many local moms, this collection of 300 remarkable photographs from the Chicago Tribune's subterranean photo vault, was curated from the @vintagetribune Instagram and it’s truly amazing! Book Overview The @vintagetribune Instagram, a beloved photography account pro-duced by the photo editors of the Chicago Tribune, has been mining the newspaper's vast subterranean archives since 2014 and breathing new life into its most gram-worthy black-and-white images. You won't find the 300 photos in this collection in your typical time cap-sule. These aren't the dramatic, front-page, history-making photographs we're used to seeing from photojournalists. These are the images that would have been posted had Instagram existed in, say, 1932--the off-beat, gritty, strange, funny, rare, charming, everyday images captured in the moments that happened between the well-documented events that make up the city's official biography. This book is an unexpected, inspired portrait of one of the world's great metropolises, told through the lenses of the countless feet-on-the-street photographers from the city's hometown paper. And yes, there are cats. We are talking about Instagram, after all. About the Author The Chicago Tribune, founded in 1847, is the flagship newspaper of the Chicago Tribune Media Group. MOM’S Perfect Paddle NAPERVILLE–Are you ready to serve up some fun? Grab your paddle, lace up your sneakers, and get ready to hit the court, because we're heading to The Picklr, Naperville's hottest spot for pickleball enthusiasts. Picture this: rain, sun, snow, or wind - no matter the weather, you will always hear the sound of friends laughing as they rally back and forth on the pickleball court. That's exactly what awaits you at The Picklr, where the game is fast-paced, the competition is friendly, and the good times are guaranteed. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie to the game, there's a court and friendly instruction available at your fingertips! My friends and I love pickleball because it’s easy to pick up, but challenging to master, making it the perfect activity for a group of friends looking to have some fun, and maybe place a wager or two keeping score! little black book36 • WESTERN SUBURBS • MAY 2024 • Glancer Magazine

As the game gets underway, you quickly realize that pickleball is addictive. There's something in-credibly satisfying about nailing that perfect shot or pulling off a tricky maneuver that leaves your op-ponents scrambling. And with each point scored, the friendly banter and high-fives flow freely. The beauty of the design of this facility is that each court is fenced in, so balls remain contained to your area, and you can spend more time playing and less time chasing random hits! My crew is very competitive but don’t confuse that with talent - for as much as I play, I should be amazing,….but I find I’m laughing at myself more than anything, regardless of how fancy my racket is! I just love the camaraderie and the sense of community that comes with this sport. Whether you're cheering each other on from the sidelines or strategizing together on the court, there's a bond that forms when you're all in it together. From epic rallies to hilarious moments, it's simple fun regardless of the weather! They even host open playtime from 9 p.m. to midnight on the week-ends! Get ready to serve, volley, and score your way to unforgettable memories. Overview The Picklr, the indoor courts are state-of-the-art professional grade outdoor surfacing. FUN ON THE FOX RIVER Paddlewheel Riverboats ST. CHARLES–Take in the beauty of the Fox Valley aboard an historic paddlewheel riverboat – an iconic attraction in St. Charles for more than 75 years. This recreational activity that has spanned generations began in 1945 when the late Chet Anderson bought his first paddlewheel river-boat to charter cruises up and down the Fox River. Traveling from the era of Mark Twain through a green corridor of scenic beauty, each riverboat trip offers something completely different. Some-times you might see an eagle or a turtle, other times an osprey or a family of foxes. This completely unique way to explore the city and the beautiful Fox River is affordable and memorable for all ages during both public and private events. On the public cruises, the riverboats tell stories from the past. While tak-ing in the scenery, guests will learn about the Pottawatomi tribe that roamed the banks of the shore prior to St. Charles settlement and sev-eral historic landmarks. More fun is had when you hear the tales of ice-houses and underground railroads as well as community lore regarding Al Capone’s infamous “hideaway.” These beautiful boats and their homegrown story are something that St. Charles can truly be proud of, and rest assured, the Andersons’ legacy and the generations of family memories these boats carry is in good hands with the dedicated staff of the St. Charles Park District at the helm. KID STUFFDANCING IN ST. CHARLES 3rd Street Dance ST. CHARLES–In the heart of historic downtown St. Charles, 3rd Street Dance stands as a testament to the vision of owner and di-rector, Alice Williams. Williams grew up in St. Charles, and 27 years ago, embarked on a mission to create a non-competitive dance stu-dio that inspires students to believe in themselves, spread joy and build lifelong friendships. It’s a home where, as she says, “Kids can be kids, have fun, and find their best friend.” At 3rd Street Dance, students embrace the beauty of dance without worrying about external pressures. As the only local St. Charles studio affiliated with the national organization More Than Just Great Dancing®, they takes pride in providing a quality curriculum and a safe and nurturing environment for its young dancers to grow and flourish. Dance has the power to bring about positive change in a com-munity. 3rd Street Dance give back, organizing charity events and fundraisers, using passion for dance to raise awareness for local causes. These experiences teach young dancers the value of em-pathy, compassion, and the joy of helping others. The studio’s non-competitive approach to dance has allowed count-less children to discover the joy of movement and creativity without the fear of judgment. As Williams continues to champion the belief that “kids should be kids for as long as humanly possible,” the 3rd Street Dance legacy lives on by offering a variety of classes focus ing on fun, learning, and growth.
