NAPERVILLE–Principal Designer, Dana Silver, holds degrees in Interior Design, Fashion Merchandising and a minor in Business. Her work has gar-nered recognition through the Inter-national Interior Design Association’s RED Awards, as well as one of the top 100 success stories for The Art Insti-tutes 100th Anniversary Celebration. “One of my takeaways from the Fash-ion degree is the ability to curate wardrobes based around classic pieces and accessorizing with trendy pieces,” Dana says. “This is how I ap-proach my Interior Design projects. Larger big ticket items are classic and will last ten plus years, while accesso-rizing with throw pillows or accent items that will be in style for five to eight years. These are easily changed out at that time and are not significant investments.” Staying aware of top trends, you will see her incorporating accents with soft, rounded edges; waterfall edges on counters, consoles, and desks; overly textured items such as hair-on-hide, fringe and boucle fabrics; and layering of items from bunching tables, to accessories and artwork. Dana works with hundreds of vendors enhancing residential and commercial client experiences, while working with her husband, Jason who she met on site as their preferred General Con-tractor. The pair have learned to set strict boundaries ensuring a work/life balance, including communicating business topics via an app, turning off notifications once dinner is served, and appreciating a packed social life to recharge. In addition, Dana serves as the Pres-ident of the Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club, and possesses a real estate li-cense to fully understand her com-munity and the local housing market values demonstrating respect for budgets, and securing strong relation-ships.Dana SilverGlancer Magazine • MARCH 2023 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 11

Glancer Magazine • MARCH 2023 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 13ST. CHARLES–Shannon attended the Harrington College of Design after a career in the financial sector that al-lowed her to make a salary that would far exceed that of a junior designer. This pathway solidified a foundation for her to eventually be home with her kids and to pursue her interior design business, Peppeard Design, which quickly gained traction in the industry. Her signature style incorporates clients’ needs and desires, with a liv-able design. Shannon’s work has been featured in HGTV Magazine, Modern Luxury Interiors Magazine, and named one of 2021’s My Rowe Designers. As a working mom, involved com-munity member, and business woman, Shannon is always trying to find the perfect work life balance, which prompted opening The Pep Line in downtown St. Charles to relo-cate the design business out of her home. The Pep Line offers a curated selec-tion of items used by Peppeard De-sign and carries a wide variety of home goods including in-stock furni-ture such as sofas, ottomans, chairs, side tables, rugs, and lighting. Pieces of art, mirrors, greenery, planters, vases, kitchen entertaining items in-cluding serveware, barware, and sea-sonal décor are also part of the collection. “We are seeing a lot of earthy tones, moody colors, and a lot of the trends are going back to modern traditional decor,” Shannon adds. “I am seeing antiques mixed with modern, that has a nod to a European vibe. Think Eng-lish chesterfield, more ornate pieces also mixed with clean lines.” She helps pick out finishes, furniture, accessories and facilitates the design and build to attain a beautiful, cohe-sive, end result within budget and scope. -Kristen KucharskiShannon Peppeard

Glancer Magazine • MARCH 2023 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 15AWARD WINNING HOME DESIGNER WITH 5,000 SQ FT SHOWROOM BATAVIA–With a background in construction and interior design, owner Catherine Sanzeri saw a need for affordable quality cabinetry and kitchen design, so she opened West DuPage Cabinets and Granite in 1997, and has been leading the market as a custom home builder since. Her talented team continues to fill a niche in the west suburban home design marketplace by providing a full range of products to fit every budget while providing lifestyle-focused designs with top industry de-signers. As a proud member of the NKBA and KCMA, this women-owned establishment guarantees absolute satisfaction. “I just love what I do, so every day is a dream for me,” Catherine says. THE DESIGN PROCESS The talented design team will visit your home for a consultation, take measurements and look at the lifestyle components of the home and family; then create a custom masterpiece, incorporating the latest pro-ducts that meet the specific needs of each homeowner. The entire process is coordinated by West DuPage Cabinets & Granite providing total satisfaction and the end result is a stress-free process from design to build, including designer privilege discounts on appli-ances and fixtures. INDUSTRY TRENDS Catherine noted that the industry is always changing with future trends leaning towards larger islands, coffee bars and entertainment spaces, including a wine refrigerator in the kitchen and more features to accom-modate larger groups. She also says that natural woods and stains are trending for 2023. LEADING THE WAY One of Catherine’s most cherished projects was when her team de-signed and built a first floor master suite for a client whose husband had MS and could no longer walk up the stairs. “The improved quality of both of their lives was a gift to see!” shared Catherine. Stories like this are why the company has received many awards and accolades through the years including Best of the Best in Kitchen and Bath Remodeling 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, in addition to Glancer Magazine’s ‘Best of the Best’ Kitchen Designer for Kane County in 2021. PURPOSEFULLY DRIVEN Debbie’s community ties since 1995 gives her an enthusiastic edge when working with buyers and sellers. Her professional, down to earth approach with unwavering commitment to her clients, has enabled her to build up a vast network of referrals over the past 8 years. Attention to detail combined with an exceptional understanding of the mar-ketplace, genuine care for people, attentive listening skills, and dedication to fulfilling client’s goals is abundantly evident. “I LOVE people and the journey that takes us from A to Z. I believe we all have a story to tell, and that story begins at home,” Debbie shares. “For much of my adult life, I was known as a working stay-at-home PTA mom/wife, and was led to a new full time career as a 50 year-old single mom. It took perseverance, patience, and trust in the process to transition to Debbie Lendino, john greene Realtor, trusted advisor extraordinaire!” Debbie’s strong ability to negotiate and problem solve support her business that has been predominantly built on referrals, open homes, and networking. She is confident, yet humble; compassionate, yet persistent; knowledgeable, yet always learning. She relies on jgR’s tools to maintain a powerful post close process for her buyers and sellers and has an impressive social media presence that aids in marketing her listings. As Naperville and western suburban real estate continue to tilt toward a seller marker, home sales overall are heading toward stabilization. A slight cool is a good sign for Debbie’s buyers who are coming off the sidelines, even with risen interest rates. Creative financing and a decrease in com-petitive multiple offer scenarios will allow her buyers stronger purchasing power moving forward. But, we do need inventory and property values con-tinue to rise, just at a slower rate. NOW is a great time to market your home! “Utilization of john greene Realtor's technology is unmatched,” she says. “Always fresh, always something NEW, excellent!,” Debbie says. “I love being a part of an organization that supports each other - a cheerleader to new agents, mentoring small groups, collaborating with business partners, brainstorming with outside agents, networking, volunteering...these all align with my purpose!” As a top performing agent, it brings Debbie great joy to build on her referral base and provide an elite experience for her clients. CHEZ FRANÇOIS POUTINERIE NAPERVILLE–What do you get when you com-bine french fries, cheddar cheese curds and gravy? Poutine - a classic, Canadian comfort dish that was first established in Quebec around the 1950s. Lucky for us, it has out-grown its regional roots. In light of Punxsu-tawneye Phil’s recent prediction, we are certainly in need of some comfort dishes to get us through this remaining winter season. Introducing: Chez François Poutinerie. Chez François Poutinerie, a restaurant in down-town Naperville that specializes in making poutine, opened its doors in July 2022. The restaurant had two goals: introduce poutine to its residents and provide employment opportu-nities to adults with special needs. In fact, the restaurant is named after the owner’s son (François) who has autism. Those adults with developmental disabilities participate in a three-month train-ing program and are teamed up with a work buddy (to help assist with job-related tasks). Additionally, area schools partner with CFP as a vocational training site. This unique restaurant serves a variety of specialty poutine dishes and salads. Be sure to try The Mon-treal (classic poutine - gravy is a family recipe!), The Hipster (fries, gravy and caramelized pork belly) and the Caesar Salad (a traditional caesar salad with eggs, capers and bacon). All ingredients are inde-pendently sourced - ensuring the freshest quality. To help generate a sense of community, CFP hosts one event per month - such as: game nights, karaoke and bingo. There is comfort to be found all around - not only with its food, its people … but, also its heartwarming mission. Meet Megan, Founder of Moose & Me Bakery in Naperville NAPERVILLE–Waubonsie Valley and Concordia University graduate, Megan Elder has always had a vision for inclusion in her community. Over 15 years ago, she started a Nap-erville ministry, now called Young Life Capernaum, for teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through running this program, Megan became painfully aware of the lack of opportunities there are for adults with dis-abilities. Along the way, she and her husband, Justin, adopted two girls with Down Syndrome, Mila (9) and Audrey (4) to join their growing family with Zoey (12) and Wells (4). “That’s when I started asking myself, how can I help, which planted the seed for Moose and Me,” she says. “Moose and Me was inspired by my daughter Mila, a/k/a Moose, who al-ways showed a desire to bake. It was a fun way to bond and teach her life skills while keeping her attention.” Living by Bob Goff's words that most people need love and ac-ceptance a lot more than they need advice, she has an overall goal to employ adults of all abilities and create meaningful interactions within the community. Currently she operates this non-profit, in-home bakery, and hopes to open a physical location in order to em-ploy more adults of all abilities. Moose & Me Baking Company’s mission doesn’t stop there, it’s also impacting the community with their Donate-A-Cake program, which donates birthday cakes to children in need by partnering with local organiza-tions including Hesed House, Mutual Ground and 360 Youth. She has battled the cancer six times with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy every time it came back. She is what most would call a cancer warrior. “Through it all, I found a new purpose in life,” says Nora, who was forced to retire from her 40-year accounting and banking job due to the cancer and the chemo side effects. “I want to encourage and give hope to other people who are battling cancer to see the light at the end of their own proverbial cancer tunnels and come out on the other side.” My Pink Cane and Me is Nora’s personal journey through her cancer fight starting from her first diagnosis in 2010 to the present day. It is raw, emotional, unexpected, and inspiring. “My life was completely turned upside down, but I am living proof that there is life after the big diagnosis.” Currently Nora is still in remission from her 6 cancer battles since 2016 but is still having blood tests, ovarian cancer level checks and following up with her Oncologist every 3 months. Just Cause Create Joy PLAINFIELD–No matter how big or small, kindness is the greatest gift of all. Small acts of kindness is the backbone idea behind Just Cause Create Joy, a nonprofit organization based in Plainfield. Their vision is to inspire others to create joy in the world by sharing small charitable acts of kindness. “We have found there are many people in our com-munities that have enough re-sources to donate, gift and want to help redistribute to those who are underserved or in need,” says Va-nessa Mussatto, Founder and Ex-ecutive Director of Just Cause Create Joy. Vanessa was inspired to form Just Cause Create Joy by watching her great friend Robbin start a nonprofit in En-glewood. “She was able to make a difference for so many families in Englewood where there is poverty, homeless-ness and trauma, and I saw firsthand it only takes an idea of helping others then acting on it to make a difference in someone’s life.” Just Cause Create Joy has not limited themselves to one cause. They have served communities in Plainfield, Joliet, Aurora, Naperville and Bolingbrook, along with Benton Harbor and Allegan County Michigan. Their branches have extended to locations in Michigan and North Carolina, who will work on parallel campaigns with them throughout the year. This dream could not have become a reality without her board members, President Judy Rae Brown, Treasurer Carla Cooper, Secretary Mary Ihle and Director Jennifer Bartz. Their hope is to even-tually have several branches nationwide. Since acquiring their nonprofit status just 6 months ago, the organ-ization has completed a lot of chari-table programs including: collecting their school supply backpack drive in Illinois and in Michigan, collecting 248 Halloween costumes to distrib-ute to children in communities in Jo-liet and Aurora, collecting wish list items for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, and sponsored 261 children through their Comfort and Joy program dur-ing the holidays. “We look forward to programs that will also serve the elderly, victims of domestic violence and animal shelters.” Says Va-nessa. “We are here to support ideas, not just our own. We love suggestions.” Just Cause Create Joy brings together neighbors, co-workers, and strangers for a common cause. They wel-come volunteers, including children and young adults along with the different donations for each cause as well as financial donations. To stay informed with the organ-ization’s next community project and needs, join their Facebook group under Just Cause Create Joy, and watch for a new website coming soon. Shop GalleryTWO LOCAL BOUTIQUES FEATURING LIVERPOOL THIS SPRING WHEATON & ST. CHARLES–Jill Card opened Jeans and a Cute Top after years of working in retail and corporate sales jobs, wearing boring suits, un-comfortable panty hose, and predictable white dress shirts. The name was in-spired by her first date with her husband when she asked, “What should I wear?” and her husband replied: “Jeans and a cute top.” When Jill was getting ready for that first date, she didn’t have a great pair of jeans or a cute top in her closet and had to borrow an outfit from her sister, a flight attendant with a much more fun wardrobe. As she got older, Jill couldn’t find any great jeans for women in their 30s and 40s. Stores catered to teenagers or grandmas. The unflattering ‘Mom’ jeans filled in that age gap. Now, in Jill’s closet, you’ll find about 40 pairs of jeans. She has 8-10 pairs in regular rotation. Her go-to, favorite pair is the Gia from Liverpool—the denim is super soft and keeps its shape. Jeans & A Cute Top is the solution for women who don’t want to look ridiculous trying to dress like their daughters but also refuse to settle for shapeless lounge wear. Jill hand selects every item in the store, going to trade shows looking for style over trend, and finding affordable, beautiful clothes that work for all women, not just size 0 models. You will find Jill working the floor of one of her shops every day—she is committed to changing the world for women one great fitting pair of jeans at a time. www.jeansandacutetop.com Expires 3-31-2372 • WESTERN SUBURBS • MARCH 2023 • Glancer Magazine

Blood Sugar Stability Weight, Aging, and Health Optimization Chronically elevated blood glucose (sugar) increases resistance to in-sulin in your body. This is associated with many negative health out-comes and a shorter overall lifespan. It is well known that elevated blood sugar over time causes type 2 diabetes. Additionally, added sugar in-creases the rate of biological aging. Elevated sugar triggers systemic inflammation, this leads to DNA damage which then causes altered ge-netic expression. With altered genetic expression, risk for diseases such as alzheimers and cancer also increase. Balancing your blood sugar on a consistent basis is an excellent strategy for aging well and lowering your long term risk factors. In 2015, the CDC reported that over 30 million Americans have diabetes and 84 million Americans have pre-diabetes. While the typical education from one’s doctor sounds like “you need to eat better and exercise”, this ad-vice is full of little context or actionable tools. If you’re looking to take your health into your own hands and decrease your long term risk factors, there are a variety of lifestyle habits and strategies to help you do so. First and foremost, focus on a diet high in high-quality protein. Animal products that are well sourced offer a rich abundance of nutrients and the high protein content helps to stabilize internal blood sugar levels. Stress is another thing that can elevate blood sugar levels on a consistent basis. Implementing a daily meditation prac-tice will help to keep stress hormones lower which will help support healthy blood sugar levels. Lastly, moving your body regularly is an ex-cellent approach to teaching your body how to properly utilize and burn up glucose as fuel. This does not need to mean strenuous activity, but meeting your daily 10,000 steps can make a world of difference to your longevity and wellness. The most important takeaway here is understanding that you have con-trol over your ability to regulate your blood sugar levels, which means you have an element of control over your long term health and wellness. What Is PRP? Platelet-rich plasma is a substance that your functional medicine provider derives from your blood. Research suggests that PRP en-courages cell repair and soft tissue healing. Concentrated platelets from your own blood are injected into an injured joint or your skin through controlled injury, like microneedling, to take advantage of your body’s own natural growth factors and healing capabilities. The growth factors in plasma control inflammation and healing, thus rejuvenating your skin or decreasing pain and inflammation in your joints. Essentially, PRP helps your tissue heal itself. PRP is derived directly from your own blood. We’ll take a blood sample from you and run it through a centrifuge. This centrifuge separates your red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma. We will then take the concentrated plasma and inject it into your joints or onto the controlled injury on your skin, whichever is appropriate for your treatment. Microneedling with PRP The amazing thing about the human body is its incredible ability to heal itself. PRP capitalizes on your body’s innate ability to thrive under the right conditions. Health optimization isn’t all supplements, nutrition, and hormone therapy; sometimes, the best way to opti-mize your health is by looking at what’s already inside you. Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is sometimes called “liquid gold” be-cause of its powerful restorative capabilities. If you want to optimize your wellness by harnessing your body’s natural ability to heal itself, call Peak Health Institute today to schedule your joint injection or microneedling with PRP near Naperville today! We made two teams of eight and proceeded to launch into a full blown timed scavenger hunt around the house that allowed each team to accrue points for the win! The energy was high and it was a fantastic way to get the adrenaline pumping! Next, our teams worked together to play tele-vision game shows similar to Jeopardy, Family Feud, Password, and test our reflexes and co-ordination skills to buzz in quickly or shift in nu-merical order once presented with the facts on the digital platform. Our LIVE host made the in-person experience captivating and held the full attention of our group for the entire time.
