MMOOMM’’SS Bungee Fitness LOCKPORT–It’s the new year and resolutions are on the rise! Fitness is always at the top of my list; however, I hate working out, so I am always looking for creative ways to strengthen and tone without going to the gym. As a thrill seeker by nature, insert the word bungee into exercise and I’m there! I recruited a few brave friends to join me in a rev-olutionary workout called Bungee Fitness, that promised to com-bine strength training, cardio, and fun into a single, exhilarating experience. After getting hooked into our harnesses, attached to bungee cords, suspended from the ceiling, our instructor patiently guided us in a range of movements, including jumps, lunges, squats, and even aerial tricks. Giggles ensued and I may have taken advantage of the gravity free zone more than a few times! What sets bungee fitness apart is its low-impact nature and how seamlessly it incorporates music and choreography, making it as entertaining as it is effective. The movements were easy to follow; yet offered a challenge to execute. Our instructor counted us in to help us stay coordinated, and we managed to create a simple sequenced routine.little black bookA New Adventure Every Month!featuring24 • WESTERN SUBURBS • JANUARY 2025 • Glancer Magazine
Glancer Magazine • JANUARY 2025 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 25Choreography plays a crucial role in bungee fit-ness, transforming it into a dynamic and creative workout. These routines, designed to maximize the resistance provided by the bungee cords, often start with simple, flowing movements and gradually progress to more complex combinations, blending elements of dance, aerobics, and even gymnastics. The choreography challenges participants’ coordi-nation, balance, and core strength while maintain-ing a fun and engaging atmosphere. The spinning handstand and “pretty girl” flight made me feel like a kid again as I subtly discovered muscles I didn’t even know existed! The fusion of music and choreography definitely el-evated bungee fitness beyond a traditional work-out; feeling more like a dance party or performance, where we were encouraged to let loose, laugh, and enjoy the process. The sense of accomplishment after nailing a choreographed rou-tine and mastering an aerial move was unmatched. Cristina Henríquez Author of The Great Divide A TODAY Show Read With Jenna Book Club Pick! A powerful novel about the construction of the Panama Canal, casting light on the unsung people who lived, loved, and labored there CHICAGO–Cristina Henríquez has made a name for herself as one of the most compassionate and insightful voices in contemporary lit-erature. The daughter of a Panamanian father and an American mother, Henríquez often draws on her heritage to craft stories that bridge cultural divides. Her previous works, such as The Book of Un-known Americans, earned her critical acclaim for their empathetic por-trayal of immigrant experiences. Known for her masterful prose and vividly drawn characters, Henríquez delivers a unique blend of his-torical depth and raw humanity in her novels. Her latest work, The Great Divide, once again demonstrates her sto-rytelling prowess. A TODAY Show Read With Jenna Book Club Pick, the novel takes readers to the early 20th century, amid the monumen-tal yet grueling construction of the Panama Canal. Henríquez casts light on those history often overlooks—the laborers, families, and communities whose lives were reshaped by this global engineering feat. The story follows three central characters whose lives intersect in pro-found ways. Omar, a young Panamanian seeking purpose, takes a perilous job at the excavation zone, straining his relationship with his fisherman father, Francisco. Ada, a daring teenager from Barbados, journeys to Panama in search of work to fund her sister’s surgery, ending up at Omar’s side after a harrowing event. John Oswald, a malaria researcher, hires Ada after witnessing her courage, intertwin-ing their stories further. The novel explores themes of ambition, sac-rifice, and the human spirit in the face of adversity. Praised as “a sweeping epic” by The New York Times and others, The Great Divide captivates readers, offering a poignant reflection on for-gotten histories and the cost of progress. Through her evocative sto-rytelling, Cristina Henríquez cements her place as a literary force, giving voice to those left in history’s shadow. Purchase The Great Divide today HERE. wintertime HOME SERVICES The Importance of Whole-House Humidification During Winter Winter has arrived here in Illinois, bringing chilly temperatures, shorter days, and an in-creased dependence on indoor heating. One often-overlooked side effect of these changes is the onset of dry indoor air. Have you been experiencing uncomfortable nights, marked by scratchy throats, dry skin, and dis-rupted sleep? This seasonal dryness can be the cause of dry winter air that can impact your health, and sleep. Thankfully, whole-house humidifiers offer a solution to restore comfort and improve indoor air quality. Winter air feels drier because cold air inherently holds less moisture than warm air. When temperatures drop, the relative humidity in the air decreases, leaving it noticeably dry. Indoor heating systems in-tensify this by further depleting moisture in the air. A whole-house humidifier is an effective way to combat the effects of dry air throughout your home. These systems in-tegrate directly with your HVAC system, regulating humidity across all rooms. The benefits are immediate and far-reaching. • Improved Sleep Quality • Healthier Skin and Eyes • Enhanced Immune Support A whole-house humidifier ensures that every room in your home maintains the perfect humidity level, creating a comfortable environment for your family. By investing in this solution, you’ll enjoy healthier skin, better respiratory health, and nights of uninterrupted, rejuvenating sleep. Embrace winter with comfort and ease—experience the difference of whole-home humidification. Contact McNally’s Heating and Cooling about our April Aire Humidi-fier solutions today!
