Kathryn Almeda and Sean Gallagher GENEVA Kathryn and Sean met on a dating app it was truly kismet and immediately enhanced each of their lives Their relationship was an easy adventure prompting an April 2021 engagement at Joshua Tree at a tiny house in the desert under the stars In December 2021 the couple joined hands in a micro wedding officiated by a friend surrounded by their family friends and their two pups As a previous small business owner and current Digital Media Specialist for Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva Kathryn knows the value of supporting local vendors so the couple hosted the first ever wedding at their favorite bookstore Harvey s Tales in downtown Geneva purchased their wedding flowers from Blissful Blooms in Aurora the unity plant and pot from Branch Gardens in Aurora and they held the dinner reception at Moveable Feast Co in Wheaton The bride s hair and make up were styled at Lash Dash in Geneva and photos were done by Graham Chapman With a baby due in April they are foregoing a honeymoon for now but hope to go to Ireland and Norway sometime in the future In the meanwhile they look forward to new family adventures bike rides and long walks in the city they live and love Glancer Magazine FEBRUARY 2022 WESTERN SUBURBS 9

In Love Amy and Matt Colbert ST CHARLES Amy s mom hired Matt in 2008 to mow their yard for the summer A subsequent bonfire invite led to this pair discovering many commonalities including a love for music dogs and a peanut allergy which made dating and meal planning very convenient After 14 years these high school sweethearts got married at Riverside Receptions in Geneva honeymooned in California and have been married for nearly five years By day Amy is a registered dietitian with Northwestern Medicine who has also helped teach 10 WESTERN SUBURBS FEBRUARY 2022 Glancer Magazine nutrition classes at Living Well Cancer Resource Center in Geneva and Matt is a civil engineer for WBK Engineering however on the weekends they perform live music at restaurants such as Preservation Bread Wine in Geneva and 93 Octane in Saint Charles with their band 2 of Us Amy plays guitar and sings while Matt plays percussion featuring acoustic covers from The Beatles to country to pop The couple believes in love at first sight and their passion for music brings people together to share in their joys

In Love Jill Tom Browning DOWNERS GROVE Jill and Tom s love story began more than 30 years ago when they met during a parking space dispute at an apartment complex while both attended the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign Their ability to resolve problems and work together to share the space resulted in a wedding in Champaign a two week honeymoon in France triplets in 2001 and ultimately business partners of Island Fin Pok Company in Downers Grove this past July Hands down their dream of owning their own franchise has been the hardest most stressful craziest thing they have ever done This power couple also holds independent careers as Director of Communications at Community High School District 99 in Downers Grove Jill and as President of JLB Partners Tom Additionally they are members the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation and Chamber630 Humor helps get them through the days along with mutual respect and their commitment to family and the community they love Glancer Magazine FEBRUARY 2022 WESTERN SUBURBS 15

Thi Tram Nguyen and Francois Szots NAPERVILLE These two first crossed paths in January 2000 at a Montreal neighborhood bar They married in August 2003 in Quebec City Canada and honeymooned in San Francisco exploring wine country and enjoying the panorama of route A1 After 19 years of marriage raising two children Elyse 15 and Francois 16 who has Autism they decided to open Chez Francois Poutinerie a Naperville restaurant opening in 2022 that has a mission to train and employ adults with disabilities and will feature authentic poutine French fries cheese curds and gravy a staple street comfort food from their roots in Canada As the co founder for the nonprofit organization Friends of Francois that provides social events for the special needs and their families of Naperville Thi Tram knew that after experiencing empathy kindness and support from the Naperville school district and its residents they wanted to give back to the community by providing much needed job opportunities for developmentally disabled adults once they graduated The couple has a strong partnership built on simplicity love and collaboration to raise a child with special needs They value hard work and share an abundance of passion balancing each other in the business world Francois is a CPA and Thi Tram brings a strong Marketing background along with French and Vietnamese interpreting skills Cherishing the simple moments and gaining strength from their struggles encourage Thi Tram and Francois to make a beautiful life both personally and professionally VIEW SHARE STORIES ONLINE www glancermagazine com Glancer Magazine FEBRUARY 2022 WESTERN SUBURBS 21

WEST SUBURBAN VIP Disney Movies Feature Naperville Teen NAPERVILLE 16 year old Ava Morse is no stranger to the professional world of acting and singing Ava grew up navigating between two worlds As a typical suburban kid attending school and acting on stage screen Over the last couple of years Ava has been seen in several national commercial campaigns Kelloggs Cinnamon Frosted Flakes and Hebrew National Hot Dogs She also had a feature film released in 2017 Surprise Me in which she plays the role of Young Genie Her most recent adventure as Young Sam is currently streaming on HBO in Somebody Somewhere and she is currently working on her role as Cinder in the HBO Series Disney Junior Firebuds which is set to release in 2022 In addition Ava has enjoyed being able to tap into her nerdy side as the voice of science geek Ava in Disney s Rons Gone Wrong which was released in theaters in October 2021 and is now available on Disney Plus The audition process for Disney s Rons Gone Wrong was very brief Ava shares I did a recording of the script at home in my pantry then I got the call a couple months later that I got the role Alongside voicing Ava they also requested me to do some ADR which is basically the setting ambiance for the movie which I had never done before and worked with the amazing Lynnanne Zager on different improv skills and tips and tricks for this new aspect of voiceover Miriam is the ideal best friend who is always there for you and always knows how to have a good time Ava says Miriam came easy to me I was basically just being an exaggerated version of myself When you re in the booth you really have to put yourself out there and with the team I think we all just had a great time throwing in little quirks here and there to really make the character special She ll make you laugh and cry and never fail to dazzle you with her beatboxing skills Turning Red was a much different experience for me I went through multiple rounds of auditions over zoom where I first met our incredible director Domee Shi essentially landing the role of Miriam but due to covid i recorded the movie at home The team sent me all this crazy vocal equipment and I worked with them on zoom for about 5 hours a couple days each month By late 2021 things began settling down in Chicago and I went to BAM studios in the city and got to work with them over zoom there which was the closest to normal my job had been in a long time Even though the limits in the entertainment industry during the pandemic have changed the audition and working processes Ava continues to stay busy on new film and voiceover projects She continues to build her singing songwriting career Her music videos have over 70K streams on platforms such as Spotify Apple Music and YouTube www avamorse com Ava is also the voice of the character of Miriam in the upcom Instagram Facebook avamorseofficial ing Pixar movie Turning Red which will be released to Disney YouTube www youtube com avamorse Downtown Plus on MarchCincinnati 11 2022 Featuring a Statue or Sculpture and a Fountain Glancer Magazine FEBRUARY 2021 WESTERN SUBURBS 31

CARING SHARING Local Mom Creates Non Profit to Help Families During Difficult Times After Losing Daughter to Cancer Normal Moments David and yes the volunteers are called Davids NAPERVILLE Oh my gosh We were all so busy over the holidays and now we are hustling to get a leg up on a new year whatever that means to youorganizing cleaning planning finding time to tackle a project There is hope in the air that this will be the year it all gets done but if you have ever had a critically ill family member especially a child those lofty goals are put on the way way back burner as you struggle just to keep up with everyday tasks Between all their services they serve around 250 300 families including providing over 100 holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas with the help of First Trust Cares Foundation in Wheaton Their 1 favorite program for both donors and recipients is their Adopt AFamily program for the giftgiving holidays Patricia Fragen Founder and President of Normal Moments in Naperville knows this all too well and created an organization devoted to supporting parents with critically ill children so they can spend as much time as possible with their child and family Their core services are providing housekeeping lawn maintenance and snow removal and any tasks they are able to take off the parents plates Patricia lost her daughter Melissa in 2007 after battling cancer for two years David Orlicz a family friend became their support at home while they were with Melissa in the hospital He was the person we relied on says Patricia He looked after our dogs and our plants read our mail to us and was there to talk and listen if we wanted Melissa said to me one day Everyone deserves a David So in her honor that is what we are creating for these families The process is extremely personal because they train and embed one or two volunteers into a family to be their Normal Moments is always looking for volunteers to be new Davids as well as donations Since there aren t always volunteers close enough to the families they serve professional providers are hired until a volunteer can be found While most providers discount their services fees still need to be paid 100 of donor dollars go directly to serve families Not being able to hold their fundraisers during the pandemic has unfortunately lowered donated funds to the organization If you would like more information about donating to or volunteering with Normal Moments please visit them at www normalmoments org ABOUT THE WRITER Mindy Kyle is passionate about helping people discover what brings them joy and to live a full healthy and happy life She has her Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from DePaul University and is a veteran of Chicago s theater and commercial world as well as a graduate of the Second City Improv School Mindy lives in Naperville with her husband three children and the cutest dog in the land VIEW MINDY S MONTHLY COLUMN AT www GlancerMagazine com to give to inspire Glancer Magazine FEBRUARY 2022 WESTERN SUBURBS 37
