Glancer Magazine • APRIL 2025 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 11COVER STORYNina Godlewski LEMONT–For as long as she can re-member, home improvement and organ-ization have been passions for Nina. Growing up with a mother affectionately known as "Mrs. Clean" and a father who instilled practical skills like using a label maker and the timeless phrase "measure twice, cut once," she developed a deep love for creating organized, functional spaces. This passion led her to open The Room Revision, a full-service organization and design firm. Before launching her business, she spent five years as a high school English teacher and ten years as an editor at a top educational publishing house which gives her a unique approach to transforming spaces. Instead of editing papers, she now “edits in 3D,” helping clients create spaces that improve their daily lives and bring peace of mind. A first-generation Polish American and "girl mom," she cherishes the time spent with her daughter, Sophie, and their dog, Misha, and is grateful to live the American dream. In her downtime, you'll likely find her at barre classes, exploring museums, attending ballet perform-ances, or at a comedy club. She is also an active member of the Na-tional Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO). What's trending for promoting your business via social media? How do you engage your audience with social media? Currently, social media engagement thrives on authenticity, storytell-ing, and interactive content. Personally, I love creating reels and carousel posts featuring stunning "before and after" room transformations. Fol-lowers enjoy these because they're visually satisfying, provide an instant feel-good boost, and have a major "wow fac-tor." One of my favorite things is transforming cluttered closets into beau-tiful, boutique-style spaces, allowing clients to "shop" their own belongings in a fresh way. From initial decluttering to installing cus-tom cabinetry, our professional team han-dles every detail, creating an organized and beautiful space clients truly love. To share this journey, I regularly post behind-the-scenes stories, giving followers a glimpse into install days, consultations, product recommendations, and helpful organization hacks. I've discovered that content doesn’t always have to be perfect—in fact, some of my raw, authentic videos generate the most engage-ment. Including polls, Q&As, trending music, and relevant hashtags helps foster community interaction and growth. Supporting and re-posting other professionals' content also helps build strong industry connections, boosting engagement and collaboration opportunities. What is hot in home decor accessories for Spring/Summer 2025? • Shutters are emerging as a fresh, popular alternative to heavy drapery. • Sage-colored rugs and accessories are also trending this season. • Functional yet stylish storage solutions like hyacinth baskets and clear bins. • Thoughtfully and beautifully labeled bins and baskets make main-taining order effortless, especially in homes with kids. (continued)
COVER STORYBlooming BrandsLocal Women Growing Success with Social Media12 • WESTERN SUBURBS • APRIL 2025 • Glancer Magazine
Glancer Magazine • APRIL 2025 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 13What is trending in 2025 for the "overall look" for Spring/Summer 2025? Fresh, bright, and airy. Creamy white walls have replaced the previously trendy "greige”. Likewise, lighter tones such as natural, light-oak flooring and furniture are taking over from darker espresso finishes. Biophilic design, connecting interiors with nature, is also trending. Through the use of natural materials, abundant greenery, and ample natural light promotes well-being and tranquility. A focus on sustainability is leading to the use of eco-friendly materials and upcycled fur-niture, allowing for stylish yet environmentally con-scious decor. Rattan and other natural fibers are experiencing a revival, being integrated into various indoor designs to add warmth and texture to spaces. What is your personal favorite design style? Timeless, calming, and elegant—focused on creating spaces that feel effortlessly serene. I gravitate toward soft, neutral colors like creams and sage, complemented by natural elements such as wood, green-ery, and our thoughtfully designed custom cabinetry. Functional touches like woven hyacinth and rattan baskets help conceal clutter gracefully. I'm especially drawn to statement lighting—modern crystal fixtures are my favorite—but as a mom to a busy toddler, practicality is key. Right now, I choose stunning yet family-friendly lighting pieces that are safe and durable, but still make a statement. Washable fabrics, baskets to hide clutter, and smart storage solutions ensure my home remains beautiful yet practical. What is your favorite room in your own home and why? My bedroom is my sanctuary—cozy, timeless, and designed to en-courage relaxation. It's intentionally TV-free, creating the perfect peaceful environment to journal, practice gratitude, and do my nightly yoga. It’s filled with calming textures, like my soft, tufted headboard, and elegant details such as mirrors framed with delicate beading for a Parisian touch, and antique glass-topped nightstands and dresser. The modern crystal statement lighting adds a touch of glamour with-out overwhelming the serene atmosphere. I’ve even incorporated blush tones to add warmth and personality. What are great "go-to" organizing tricks for a quick, yet cute look? • Remove Doors for Open Storage • Decant Foods in Pop-Top Containers • Turntables for Versatile Organization • Establishing a Backstock Area for Bulk Shopping • Display Treasured Items: Seeing these items daily creates joyful moments—your wedding shoes, your daughter’s first ballet slippers, or your son’s first baseball glove. • Maximize Vertical Space: Floating shelves, hanging baskets, or cus-tom cabinetry. -Kristen Kucharski, Photos by The Room Revision COVER STORY

Priyanka Katiyar NAPERVILLE–Priyanka's passion for creativity has always been at the forefront of her life. From designing clothes to decorating homes, she’s explored countless artistic outlets. With a background in fashion design, she started her career as a boutique designer, transitioned into merchandising, and later taught fashion design. After taking a 12-year career break as a stay-at-home mom, Priyanka faced chronic health challenges but never let that stop her creative spirit. Unable to return to a full-time job, she pivoted to real estate, where she thrived as a buyer’s agent, helping clients visualize their dream homes. Her love for home design grew as she read extensively and assisted friends with decorating projects. Encouraged by loved ones, Priyanka pursued interior design professionally, founding her own company, Prika Design, in 2018 after relocating to Naperville with her husband and daughter. With nearly a decade in the industry, Priyanka finds joy in creating beautiful, functional spaces for her clients. She believes in bringing each client’s unique vision to life within their budget. Alongside her work, she enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, traveling, and even re-cently obtained her motorcycle license after 25 years. Priyanka is also an active volunteer with ‘Love Your Neighbor,’ a com-munity group that helps families decorate their homes in a day, further fueling her passion for design and service. What's trending for promoting your business via social media? How do you engage your audience with social media? I get most of my business via Facebook and word of mouth. I connect with people via Nextdoor, Facebook and Instagram. I’m still learning how to navigate and use social media, but have found posting before and after photos, and offering hourly based design services, as little as one hour consultation, is actively trending. What is trending in 2025 for the "overall look" for Spring/Summer 2025? I consider home decorating similar to designing a garment for a per-son. The style should reflect one’s personality, whether it’s a dressing style or home design. That being said, fashion and trends come and go and we tend to lean towards what’s currently in trend. In 2025, ac-cent walls with textures, wall paper, warm and cozy wall colors, natural materials like stone, rattan, wood etc are gaining popularity. ‘Color drenching’ is a big trend where walls, trim and ceiling all are painted in one color. ‘Biophillic design’ is another trend which is nature in-spired, where your home feels connected to nature and feels warm and cozy with a minimalist style. What is your personal favorite design style? My personal favorite is a ‘Transitional/ Eclectic style’ where I like to incorporate items curated over the years through our travels or some heirloom items handed down from our parents. What is your favorite room in your own home and why? I have two areas which are my favorite. The kitchen/ family room area where I cook and spend time with family and the primary bedroom which is my retreat and rejuvenating place. What is a great "go-to" design trick for a quick, yet cute look? Declutter and fewer accessories for a clean look. If you are not sure about certain items or ideas, then keep it simple. My go to mantra is, ‘too many good things in one room, is also not good’. The easiest thing one can do to freshen up the look is switching out the pillow covers on the couch/bed, and adding a new throw blanket. Bring in some textures in fabrics and add layers and contrast for in-terest. Adding inexpensive lamps for ambiance and small trays and baskets to hide small, yet essential items, are a good way of elevating the look on a budget. Greenery brings warmth to the space, whether it's faux or real, one must add green plants in their space. A big state-ment plant in the corner with spot light, adds drama in the room. -Kristen KucharskiPhotos SubmittedCOVER STORYGlancer Magazine • APRIL 2025 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 15

Malorie Elleson OSWEGO/YORKVILLE–When Malorie Elleson opened her salon, she wanted to create something unique, setting herself apart from the typi-cal "Hair by ___" names. Using her initials, she launched ME Hair Salon Suite, which quickly became known for playful phrases like "Check ME Out" and "You found ME!" With over eleven years of experience in various salon environments, from corporate settings to upscale salons and chair rentals, Malorie is now thrilled to offer her clients a more personalized and private ex-perience as a business owner. Outside of work, Malorie is a devoted mother to a lively 3-year-old daughter, and a wife of six years to her husband, who hails from Ot-tawa and runs the family business, Steve’s Bakery. A huge fan of Game of Thrones, Malorie also shares her home in Yorkville with a playful German Shepherd and two cats, Minnie and Mickey. What's trending for promoting your business via social media? How do you engage your audience with social media? This has become ‘my’ Jam! I utilize local Facebook pages to promote my business, which has gained 80% of my clientele, and is growing! I use Facebook and Instagram as my portfolio, so I take pictures, vi-deos, create reels of before and after, reels of a life in the salon, and just for fun stuff too! This keeps my clients, and I say clients, not fol-lowers, because I’m not trying to be an “influencer” I’m trying to en-gage with people that I’m actually going to see in person. It makes me feel good about my silly reels when a client walks in and says “I saw that reel you made about ___”. That’s how I know my clients are not forgetting about ME, and I’m entertaining them in between hair appointments. Sometimes they’re more than likely to share a silly reel, thus referring me to another new client. I use ‘before and afters’ as part of my portfolio, and the cute fun reels showcase my personality. What is hot in hair trends for Spring/Summer 2025? A lot of my clients are taking a couple inches off, so haircuts either below the collar bone or haircuts resting at their shoulders. Also going lighter and brighter for the Summer/Spring will probably always be in style, so Highlights Galore! What is trending in 2025 for the overall look? Weft Hair Extensions are very much in style and trending! For in-stance, I know a lot of people watched ‘Mormon Moms’ on Hulu, and they all have Weft Hair Extensions! I’m certified in four different types of hair extensions by Dream Catchers, and the WEFT is the MOST popular to add fullness and density to the hair and add length! Also, BLUNT cuts are very much in style! With a little bit of face framing or a long curtain bang. A lot of clients are going back to their “roots” meaning it’s in style to be your natural hair color right now. The slight little money piece is very much in style still, just enough to frame the face. Sleeping in a silk bonnet is very much in style and very good for the hair! What's your favorite brand of hair products? I use a variety of different brands in my salon; but I did go to a RedKen school, so I will always love my RedKen, I also use Verb products, Curl Can Dream by Matrix, Brass Off by Matrix, It’s and 10 Leave in, and Olaplaex. What's your favorite hairstyle to design? I grew up watching ‘What Not To Wear’ on TLC, which inspired me to become a hairstylist, because I loved the ‘Before and Afters’ and the ‘Grand Reveals!’ I love when my clients come in looking one way and leave like a new person, because I do it all, lived in color, blonding, hair extensions, haircuts for the whole family, and boy perms! What is your personal "go-to" hairstyle for a quick, yet cute? look? My quick go to look that works for most clients is a blunt cut, maybe a long layer in there, with a long curtain bang, and a partial highlight, then finishing off their style with a light curl. -Kristen KucharskiPhoto Credit: Jess Gamache, ‘Gamache Photo + Film’ 3COVER STORYGlancer Magazine • APRIL 2025 • WESTERN SUBURBS • 15

34 • WESTERN SUBURBS • APRIL 2025 • Glancer Magazine Explore Goodnight, Western Springs: A Delightful Local Treasure by Taylor Tomlinson When Taylor Tomlinson set out on a family vacation to Northern Michigan, she never expected to find inspiration for a book series that would celebrate the unique charm of Chicago’s sub-urbs. But that’s exactly what happened. Her debut book, Good-night, Western Springs, was born out of a desire to help her young son connect with the places he knows and loves in their hometown. Drawing on the vibrant character of Western Springs, Illinois, Taylor’s Goodnight Series creates a bedtime adventure for young readers. The book features beloved local landmarks such as the Thomas Ford Library and Spring Rock Park, skill-fully blending nostalgia and community pride. Taylor describes her mission as bringing the beauty and personality of the west-ern suburbs to life through her books while fostering curiosity and connection among young readers. For Taylor, the writing process was both joyful and challenging. Crafting a rhythmic flow that resonates with children was a bal-ancing act, but her passion for storytelling and her family’s un-wavering support kept her going. Taylor shares how Dr. Seuss’s imaginative wordplay inspired her growing up, and it’s a touchstone she references in her creative process for rhyth-mic and engaging writing. Looking ahead, Taylor has exciting plans for her readers. New titles in her Goodnight Series are already in the works, includ-ing Goodnight, La Grange and Goodnight, Naperville, set to release later this year. Through these books, Taylor offers a gift not only to her son but to all families in the area–a beautiful reminder that home is a special place worth celebrating. I could still not pass up the opportunity to par-ticipate in a cake decorating class at the new Wilton Sweet Studio in Naperville. I thought, regardless of how it looks, I still get to eat cake! It was hard selecting which class to try, and I was immediately drawn to the Ciao Dolci! Cannoli class to feed my addiction to the filling; but, in the end, I really wanted to try my hand at piping skills. Indulging in nostalgia with the Vintage Cake Class, we learned the basics of piping, stacking, and coloring to craft our own time-less masterpiece. The step by step instructions were easy enough to understand, and the hands-on practice was the per-fect amount of time to prepare us for creating our own work of art. springtime hvacHOME SERVICES Top 5 Reasons to Get an A/C Tune-Up As temperatures rise, your A/C works hard to keep your home cool. Regular tune-ups boost efficiency, extend lifespan, and pre-vent costly breakdowns. Here are the top five reasons why an A/C tune-up is essen-tial. Enhanced Efficiency: Over time, dust, dirt, and debris accumulate in your A/C system, forcing it to work harder to cool your home. A professional tune-up includes cleaning and inspecting key compo-nents, ensuring your unit runs at peak efficiency, reducing energy consumption and lowering utility bills. Extended Lifespan: Proper maintenance helps prevent premature wear and tear on components, extending the lifespan of your A/C system. Improved Comfort: A well-tuned air conditioner delivers consistent cooling performance, ensuring optimal comfort levels in your home. Preventative Maintenance: Tune-ups allow HVAC technicians to identify and ad-dress minor issues before they escalate into major problems, preventing costly re-pairs down the line. Better Air Quality: Clean filters and coils, as well as properly calibrated components, contribute to better indoor air quality by re-moving dust, allergens, and pollutants from the air circulated by your A/C system. Scheduling an A/C tune-up before summer arrives is a smart decision that saves money, enhances comfort, and prolongs your system’s life. Don’t wait until your A/C breaks down—book your tune-up with McNally HVAC today and enjoy a cool, worry-free summer! Contact McNally’s Heating and Cooling to schedule your A/C Tune-Up today!
